Place du Tertre

Usually packed with artists and tourists, Place du Tertre was empty on this winter day.

I Love Paris in the Winter...

When it drizzles or snows. Dress warmly, but not too much, and venture out on foot. After a good walk, enjoy a vin chaud.

Here are the rest of the lyrics...

'Every time I look down on, this timeless town
Whether blue or gray be her skies
Whether loud be her cheers or whether soft be her tears
More and more do I realize that

I love Paris in the spring time
I love Paris in the fall
I love Paris in the summer when it sizzles
I love Paris in the winter when it drizzles

I love Paris every moment
Every moment of the year
I love Paris
Why, oh, why do I love Paris?
Because my love is here'

Paris at Night

As all who have spent some time in Paris well know, the transportation system is extensive and relatively inexpensive. Both the Métro and bus system will take you anywhere. If time is of the essence, then the Métro is the way to go. Otherwise, a trip by bus can be like a really cheap tour, winding through the streets of each arrondissement. During pleasant weather, nothing beats a boat ride on the Seine.

Crêpes Stand

One of the best things after a stroll along the Champs Elysées is a crêpes and a chocolat chaud!

Paris Bridge

I've been away from blogging for quite a while. My last post was in July and March before that. I lost my mojo, but I've got it back now.

I've selected this image as the first of what I hope/intend will be the daily posting of My Paris Photos.  Strangely, although I've traveled over this bridge many times, I was hard-pressed to come up with its name. But, thanks to my trusty Plan de Paris, I discovered that it called Pont au Change. The familiar La Conciergerie is shown in the background.

While most of my prior images were black & white, I will likely intermittently post color images as well.

Thanks for visiting and feel free to leave a comment.

Waiting Room

A few years ago, I planned a solo train trip from Paris that included Toulouse, Lyon and then back to Paris. I was quite proud of myself; I managed the entire excursion without incident.

Train stations are great for people watching.

Thanks for visiting. I hope you enjoy my photos of Paris.

What a View!

In the spring of 2009, I needed to plan a Paris vacation trip of a lifetime for my parents - one that they wouldn't soon forget. As they were 80 and 85, it couldn't be my typical economy vacation. Oh nooo! It had to be memorable and stress-free (at least for them). I booked business class airline tickets, transportation from the airport via private car, and a spacious apartment in a building with an elevator and this view! They had a great time and I was very happy to show Mom and Dad the City I love.

My next trip will be in five weeks! It won't be quite so upscale, but that just means I can stay longer.

I've not posted for several weeks. Thanks for hanging in and visiting.

Black, White and Red

Art and artists abound in Montmartre, particularly in Place du Tertre - a short distance from Basilique du Sacré-Coeur.

What's Wrong With This Picture?

If you look closely at this image of the Pont des Arts, you will notice that there are NO or rather very few love locks on the railings. It must be some job for workers to remove the locks once they've covered the railing as they most often are. This photo was taken in January 2010 and when I returned in November of that same year, the locks had returned with a vengence. I'm guessing that this mother and child pass this way often and aren't particularly surprised by the lack of locks.

Although this is a recent photograph, I have wonderful memories of a great birthday dinner here with dear friends.

Wedding Photo

It's not unusual to find a bride and groom taking wedding photos at a well-knowned location. Here we see the new couple decending the stairs of Eglise de la Madeleine.
