L'afrique by Eugène Delaplanche (1836-1891)

Armistice Day: Remembrance Day

On November 11th, the dead of two world wars are remembered. This morning, the President and others laid wreaths and made speeches at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier under the Arc de Triomphe. This photo was taken on the Champs Elysées after the ceremony. Notice the American flag in the background.
