The Place de la République is one of the more famous squares in Paris. At the center of the Place is a 10m (32.8') high statue called
République set on top of a monument to the history of the formation of the Republic. The statue was dedicated on 14 July 1883.
Place de la République is a favorite site for street demonstrations such as the one shown in this photo. I believe this was a pro-life demonstration.
